| Lag putt |

A long putt intended to end up within afoot or two of the hole. |
| Laid off |
|
When your club shaft points to the left of the target at the top of your back swing (for a right-handed golfer). |
| Lay up |
|
A shot intentionally hit short of the green to avoid trouble. |
| Lie |
|
1. The condition of the ground that your ball sits on (or in). 2. The spot where your ball rests on the course after a shot. 3. Angle formed by the shaft and the club head. |

A seaside golf course or a course laid out so that the first nine holes form a line out to the farthest point and the last nine come back along the first nine. |
| Lip out |
|
When the ball enters the hole on the very edge and, instead of dropping in, swirls around the circumference of the cup and pops back out due to excess centrifugal force. |
| Loft |
|
1. The angle of the clubhead, measured with respect to the shaft. 2. Club face angle in relation to the ground. 3. the act of hitting the ball into the air. 4. how high up in the air a particular club will hit a ball, the higher the number the higher the loft. |
