A hole-in-one. A hole completed in one stroke. |
| Address |

The stance or unique way you position your body just before hitting the ball. |
| Airshot |

A swing and a miss, counting as one stroke. |
| Albatross |
|
The term used in England for a score of three under the par for a hole. In the US, this is known as a
double-eagle. |
| Alignment |
|
How you aim your club face and body at address. |
| Amateur |
|
A person who does not earn any money for playing golf. |
| Approach |
|
A shot that brings your ball onto the green from the fairway or rough. Also known as an approach shot. |
| Apron |
|
The last several feet of fairway around the green. |
| Away |
|
The person who’s gall is the farthest away from the hole. The person who is away always plays their ball first between
the tee, the green and on the putting surface. |
